Q: I am thinking about signing with a modeling agency, but they want me to pay a fee to have my pictures on their website... is that normal? |
A: No - an agency shouldn't charge a fee to display a sample of your portfolio or comp card images on their website. A reputable agency makes money only when you book work as a model. |
| Q: Does it matter where I live? |
A: While there are typically more jobs in larger markets/cities, there are modeling jobs in every state. Local designers, boutiques, and business to deparments stores all need models fro their lookbooks, advertisements, and catalogues. |
| Q: What is a go-see and what should I expect? |
A: At a go-see, you should expect to sign in and perhaps wait to be seen for anywhere from 5 minutes to several hours. You will probably have your photo taken (these are called poloroids), and you should bring a comp card or headshot to leave with the casting director. Depending on the nature of the casting, you may need to briefly interact with another model, try on clothing to see how it fits, or give a short interview. |
| Q: What sort of photos do I need for my porfolio? | A: The types of photos you'll need really depend on the type of modeling you want or are able to do. Having a great headshot and a variety of images in your portfolio ensures that you seem accomplished and diverse as a m odel. Extensive information regarding the types of photos needed for a portfolio and comp card is included in the Get Started Modeling Guide. |
